Synthetic Polymers specialises in the manufacture of synthetic resins and polymers for the coatings industry. Since entering the market in 2015, SPL has grown into an integral supplier within the Southern African coatings sector.
At Synthetic Polymers, we manufacture a full range of alkyds, thermoplastic and thermoset acrylics, amino resins, modified and speciality alkyds, and saturated polymers. We serve a broad spectrum of the coatings industry and also manufacture under licence for multinational companies.

LOA for the manufacture of decorative high GLOSS enamels for interior & exterior, varnish floor sealers (high build as well), porch & deck enamels, wood stains, penetrating varnishes etc with various non-volatile contents and viscosities to suit different applications.

SOA non-drying / non-oxidizing for manufacture of stoving/baking enamels, nitrocellulose lacquers for automotive & industrial wood finishes and acid catalyzed wood finishes.

MOA for manufacture of economical industrial & architectural enamel paints. Excellent resistance to yellowing and good balance brushability, drying & gloss.

Chain stopped SOA & MOA for manufacturing of fast dry metal primers & finishes as well as truck & tractor/coach enamel & road making enamel.

Urethane alkyds & oils for manufacturing of varnishes for parquet floors, furniture, marine, wood and as sole binder for floor coatings.

Styrenated alkyds for manufacture of quick drying paints with good gloss, primers & hammers finishes. Modified alkyds for fast curing enamels & varnishes for metal decorating with good flexibility & excellent adhesion.

Thermoset acrylic acrylamide resins for high-build metal coatings offer good flexibility, detergent resistance, and excellent adhesion and also acrylic resin for deep drawing stoving coating systems and roller coatings.

Thermoplastic acrylic resins for manufacture of plaster primers, masonry paints as well as high build road marking enamels.

Hydroxy Acrylic Resin 2K for manufacture of automotive refinishes topcoats and clear coats, primers and as protective coat on metal structures like offshore, cranes, rigs etc and on difficult metals like galvanized steel & aluminium.

Amino Resins both Urea Formaldehyde & Melamine Formaldehyde for manufacture of AC lacquers and heavy-duty stoving enamels / baking enamel.

Saturated oil free polyester for general purpose coil & can coatings as well as metallised base-coats, automotive finishing systems and stoving finishes in conjunction with Amino resins.
Our Facilities
Synthetic Polymers operates from a 3.6-hectare site that was built and designed specifically for the large-scale production of resins and polymers. Our state of the art plant is capable of producing a wide variety of resins in German designed reactors of various sizes and has massive storage capacities for both raw materials and finished goods in bulk.
